Veterans' Benefits Act of 2010 (PL 111-275)
Section 401 — Increases the amount of Supplemental S-DVI from $20,000 to $30,000 effective October 1, 2011.
Section 402 — Permanently extends the SGLI disability extension to 2 years effective 10-13-2010.
Section 403 — This provision provides that insurable dependents' coverage under Family SGLI terminates 120 days after the member's separation from service; effective date immediate (as of date of enactment of 10-13-2010).
Section 404 — VGLI buy-up provision--effective date is 180 days after the law's enactment (180 days after 10-13-2010).
Section 405 — eliminates the Accelerated Benefit Option discount rate --provision effective for any ABO payments made on or after the law's enactment date (10-13-2010).
Section 407 — Increases VMLI coverage from $90,000 to $150,000 effective October 1, 2011, and from $150,000 to $200,000 effective January 1, 2012.
Section 408 — Makes TSGLI retroactive to service members injured between October 7, 2001 and November 30, 2005 outside of the theater of operations of OEF and OIF. This is effective October 1, 2011.
